An extruded plastic product is any part made by forcing melted plastic through a shaped die so it takes on a continuous, fixed cross section as it cools. For a full explanation of how the extrusion process works, see our Plastic Extrusion Guide.

Extruded products have a constant cross section running their full length, like a seal or channel, made by continuously pushing melted plastic through an open die. Molded products are individual three dimensional shapes, like housings, caps, or brackets, made by injecting plastic into a closed mould, one part per cycle.
